ONE SLIMER TOO MANY

Adventures in Slime and Space
Original Air date: September 15, 1987[1]

Writer: David Gerrold

Director: Dale Schott

Main Cast:
  • Lorenzo Music as Peter Venkman
  • Frank Welker as Raymond Stantz
  • Maurice LaMarche as Egon Spengler
  • Arsenio Hall as Winston Zeddemore
  • Laura Summer as Janine Melnitz
  • Frank Welker as Slimer
(Rating 2 of 5)

Summary: The episode begins with an explosion at the firehouse as a result of Egon’s experiment to successful build a plasmic strainer, a device designed to disintegrate ghosts so they don’t have to contain them anymore.  Slimer then gets in a fight with Peter and accidentally flies into the plasmic strainer while they are testing it.  He doesn’t disintegrate but he does destabilize and every time he hits something he splits into two smaller Slimers.  As Slimer keeps multiplying the Ghostbusters try to catch them but just end up dividing them more.
Egon and his immoral machine!

With the Slimers doubling every couple of seconds they quickly overwhelm the city sliming everything.  The city is covered pedestrians are falling down, cars are crashing, and people are getting hurt.  The Ghostbusters have to reluctantly tell the Mayor of New York how badly they screwed up. As you can imagine the Mayor is not pleased.
Lots of Slimers!

They come up with a way to reverse what has happened by altering the plasmic strainer to reverse and capturing one of the little Slimers to send through it. The little Slimer turns blue and starts absorbing all the other Slimers.  However since each of the little Slimers gained mass as they ate, the new blue Slimer became a giant.
This is stupid, you have ghost traps.

Reporting the change to the Mayor, the Ghostbusters were helpless as Janine was captured by the evil Slimer and he took her to the Empire State Building.  The Ghostbusters borrow four helicopters from the Mayor’s office and attached Proton guns to them.  They are able to burn of the excess mass and restore Slimer to his awesome self.
We're all together again! We're here! We're here!

My Take: Often episodes begin with the Ghostbusters sitting around their firehouse wondering if they are going to go out of business because they caught all the ghosts.  When I see this I start thinking “aren’t new ghosts being made all the time, especially in New York?”  I also wonder “where does their money go?”  They charge a lot of their services they must have licensing fees from their movie so why should ever be close to bankruptcy?  After this episode perhaps I should ask if they ever going to be solvent, just imagine the lawsuits.  Maybe the Mayor’s office covered it up for them. Mayor Lenny Clotch has been a known backer of the Ghostbusters and maybe he just told people the Ghostbusters saved them from another other dimensional threat.
Bad Slimer!

I always rag on the Ghostbusters for being so destructive on their missions, but at least they are reacting to something and have been called in to help.  This the first time I saw them actually cause mass amounts of damage and have it be completely their fault.  That creep who nearly charged Aunt Lois doesn’t look so bad now.   What’s really bothersome about it is the fact of why it happened.  It happened because Egon’s was trying to commit a type of genocide.  There have been fans of this series who have called into question the morality of what the Ghostbusters do.  Going around kidnapping ghosts some of whose only crime was to annoy someone with money and phone.  Personally if the Ghostbusters were real I don’t think that would be so controversial due to the fact there wouldn’t be a public consensus on what the ghosts were.  Yet, containing them is one thing destroying them is another especially when they know enough about them to know they have emotions similar to humans.  I never felt bad about the Containment Unit it’s a very humane trap it the ghosts are given their own little dimension to live in, where they can roam freely within it but they can’t bother human civilization. Trying to make Egon a mass murder of ghosts cost the episode big in the points department.  I like to think they would have only used it on truly evil ghosts who hurt people, but still it’s a part of the series that is best forgotten in an episode written mostly for humor.

Some of my stray observations:

·         ·         Why did they keep trying to catch the little Slimers with a net when they have ghost traps?
        ·         Haven’t rebuilt the Ecto-2 yet, have to borrow helicopters from the Mayor?
      ·         Egon had previously stated he didn’t have a pilot’s license, yet the Mayor allows them all to fly in helicopters.

MEET EGON’S UNCLE

Cry Uncle
Original Air date: November 12, 1987[1]

Writer: Bruce Reid Schaeffer

Director: Dale Schott

Main Cast:
  • Lorenzo Music as Peter Venkman
  • Frank Welker as Raymond Stantz
  • Maurice LaMarche as Egon Spengler
  • Arsenio Hall as Winston Zeddemore
  • Laura Summer as Janine Melnitz
  • Frank Welker as Slimer
(Rating 1 of 5)

Summary: The Ghostbusters are on the job and Egon is concerned about finishing up on time to pick up his uncle at the airport.  They don’t finish on time and they end up meeting him at the firehouse.  Before they arrive Uncle Cyrus comes in contact with Janine and Slimer but he loses his glasses at one point and mistakes Slimer for a cat.
Uncle Cyrus the really smart dumb guy!

When the Ghostbusters arrive they apologize to Uncle Cyrus for not picking him up on time, but there is a bigger concern. Uncle Cyrus does not like that his brilliant nephew is working as a low-level exterminator for non-existent things.  Winston tries to reason with him but they get called out on a job.  They ask Uncle Cyrus if he would like to go so he can see what Egon does and he agrees.  The Ghostbusters arrive at the convenience store and can’t find any ghosts.  Uncle Cyrus loses his glasses again and that’s when the ghosts show up and Cyrus misses his nephew’s success.
This doesn't make sense even by Slimer standards!

Back at the firehouse, Cyrus guilts Egon with a promise he made as a young man to be there if needed.  Cyrus tells him that he needs Egon to run his lab.  Egon leaves a note for his fellow Ghostbusters and heads off with his uncle.
Egon hates his new job.
Janine finds his note and is heart-broken at the loss of Egon.  The other Ghostbusters feel the loss when they go on a mission and find themselves needing Egon.  The three Ghostbusters and Janine fly out to see Egon at his new job, that he clearly hates, and ask his uncle if they can borrow him for one last assignment.  Cyrus reluctantly agrees and decides to go with them.

The team invites Cyrus to come along so they can see how important Egon is but Cyrus declines.  On the mission Egon and Ray come up with a way to defeat the poltergeists and all is well, but they are still probably going to lose Egon.  While this is going on Janine shows Cyrus the Containment Unit.  Cyrus goes up and starts randomly pushing buttons causing a meltdown and before Janine hits the emergency switch the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man escapes. He is small and intangible at first then he grows larger and by the time is out of the firehouse tangible again.
He's back!

The Ghostbusters battle and with a little help from Uncle Cyrus are able to catch the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man again.  Cyrus now impressed with his nephew releases him from his promise and allows him to remain a Ghostbuster.

My Take: This episode sucked.  Really sucked, it was Janeway and Paris goes into transwarp turn into animals and have kids kind of suck.  I would like to give it zero stars but I already said one is my lowest so one it is.  This episode fails on nearly every level.  The only part I liked was Egon leaving a note (because with his non-existent social skills he couldn’t have done it in person) and Janine’s reaction to it.  The rest is almost unwatchable.  Even Slimer was off in this episode, he was in some ways overly aggressive and the whole Slimer in the drinking water was dumb.  Now if Slimer drank all the drinking water that would be one thing, but no he just wants to live in it.

The biggest fail however is the whole premise.  As I stated in the ‘my take’ section in the previous review, the Ghostbusters live in the world where ghosts are real but they give us Uncle Cyrus a “skeptic” who doesn’t believe in ghosts.  In the last episode they made fun of mediums by showing a phony, it almost like they said “well we made fun of the people who really believe in ghosts so now we should make fun skeptics.”  Except the episodes were written by different people so probably not the case, although it is interesting that in the last episode featured an aunt of a Ghostbuster and this features an uncle.  Cyrus doesn’t believe in ghosts because he never saw one and whenever he has the opportunity he loses his glasses.  This is an absurd if you want a good lesson on skepticism look at the video below by QualiaSoup.

Cyrus, “Egon, I don’t believe in ghosts.”
Egon, “Uncle, here is my pet, Slimer”
                Cyrus, “I lost my glasses.”
Egon, “Here are some of spare glasses and here is Slimer.  And if you come down to the Containment Unit I can show you the viewer and you can see more in there.”
Cyrus, “Oh, look at that ghosts are real.”

There you have it that’s how easy the plot should have been resolved.  But no we drag on this pointless exercise.  You could have made the uncle hate ghostbusting like an entomologist who hates the fact that his nephew is an exterminator for a living when he should be in a lab. That could have been interesting but instead we get an episode where the so called “brilliant” uncle is made to look like an idiot.

The episode gets worse as it goes on.  The scene with the Containment Unit was horrible.  The “brilliant scientist” starts just playing with buttons and it causes a meltdown.  Not only does this make Cyrus stupid but we have forgotten that the Containment Unit has a security system to prevent this.  Remember Wat needed a Ghostbuster body in order to open it.  Janine stops it from melting down completely by hitting a button on the wall that was never there before.  The Containment Unit front opens up completely and yet only one ghost pops out.

The powerful Wat needs Peter to open this thing!

"Not really" says the STMM, "and I am the only ghost who saw this was open!"
The escaped ghost is the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, whom no attempt is made to explain how the giant changed from an incarnation of Gozer to an independent spirit in his own right, is now too big to be put into a trap.  This makes no sense what so ever, I can accept that fact that somewhere along the line some of the remains of the original giant reformed into a new entity, but don’t try to tell me you can’t fit him in a trap. I know you can because ghosts who are made of ecotoplasm will shrink down and fit in the trap—we already saw him change size in this episode—; in fact just before every episode I watch the Ghostbusters put Stay Puft and his friends into a trap with no problem.

This episode is a complete failure, and one best to be forgotten.

MEET RAY’S AUNT

The Spirit of Aunt Lois
Original Air date: November 10, 1987[1]

Writer: Richard Mueller

Director: Dale Schott

Main Cast:
  • Lorenzo Music as Peter Venkman
  • Frank Welker as Raymond Stantz
  • Maurice LaMarche as Egon Spengler
  • Arsenio Hall as Winston Zeddemore
  • Laura Summer as Janine Melnitz
  • Frank Welker as Slimer
(Rating 4 of 5)

Summary: The Ghostbusters are cleaning up from a recent job and Peter is getting mad at Slimer again.  Then Ray’s Aunt Lois shows up and the Ghostbusters run to greet her.  Lois tells the Ghostbusters that she has been having horrible headaches and thinks a ghost is responsible.  She then explains that she has hired a medium named Dr. Bassingame to do a séance to dispose of the ghost.  The Ghostbusters try to get out of going but a last minute cancellation at Museum of Modern Art frees them up.
What's the point of having a nephew who is a Ghostbuster if he won't help you with your ghosts.

The Ghostbusters go to Aunt Lois’s very nice house and meet the so-called medium.  The man is an obvious fake using holographic technology to create the allusion of ghosts. Egon had detected earlier that there were supernatural entities but they were all dormant.  However Dr. Bassingame’s technology woke the dormant ghosts up.  The ghosts start to raise hell, Ray wants to get there equipment but Lois still wants to give Dr. Bassingame a chance not realizing he is fraud yet.  He continuously fails and they all get thrown out of the house anyway.  Egon, consulting Tobin’s Spirit Guide, finds out the previously dormant ghosts are called Domoviye; they’re Russian house spirits that came over with some family heirlooms from Russia a generation back.
The séance

The Ghostbusters get their equipment, go back inside, and do the Ghostbuster thing capturing all the ghosts.  With Aunt Lois’s house very damaged, not unusual in Ghostbusters cases, Dr. Bassingame still insists on being paid, pointing out their contract makes him not liable for any damages.  The Ghostbusters tell the debunked medium if that’s the case then they will just drop the Domoviye off at his house.  Bassingame not only agrees not to charge his fee but pays for the damages.  As he leaves it turns out one of the Domoviye got by them and is in Bassingame’s car.
And know they woke up!

My Take: This is very interesting episode for a number of reasons.  The primary reason however is the character of Dr. Bassingame.  In the Ghostbusters’ universe ghosts are clearly and demonstrably real.  Sometimes there is little ghost activity, sometimes there is more, all depending on the activities on the nether planes during any particular time period.  So you can be drowning in ghosts or they're nowhere to be seen in some areas for years on end.  In the film, when the Ghostbusters became popular the news covered them because of their successful ghost catching business, not because ghosts are real.  People in the film, except Walter Peck who was a dick, accept the reality of ghosts in their world.
A fraud meets some real experts!

Now in the real world there is no good evidence for the supernatural.   This doesn’t stop some people with over active imaginations from feeling otherwise.  These people range from the passive, “I think ghosts might be out there” to the extremely stupid who believe that the show Ghost Hunters is real.  In this world we have physics and mediums who are all fakes, some market themselves as entertainment and are harmless; while others actually take advantage of often emotional vulnerable people (i.e., Sylvia Browne.)

So what would happen in a world where ghosts are clearly real, wouldn’t these fake mediums see their numbers multiply by the hundreds?  The Ghostbusters exist but they are expensive and often destructive in the ghost capturing.  This might force some people to turn to alternative methods for their ghost problems, in this very episode the Ghostbusters lose one a museum gig and Ray’s own aunt doesn’t want to hire them.

Now for my stray observations:
·         Peter is looking to blast Slimer and wondering what he is good for, once again forgetting the fact that Slimer has saved his life already this season not to mention all the other times he was helpful.
·         All the Ghostbusters seem to love Aunt Lois, not just Ray.  When she enters they run with enthusiasm to see her.
·         Do you think they were offended that Aunt Lois went to someone else for their ghost needs?
·         I love the fact they lost the museum gig.  It’s about time the Ghostbusters’ destructiveness caught up with them.  I am going to be volunteering at a museum and I wouldn’t want the Ghostbusters around even if there was a ghost, far too much too lose.
·         Very formal attire to Ray’s aunt’s house.  I never dress like this when visiting a parent’s sibling.
·         The way the fake dresses, would you say it could remind you of another fake ghostbuster?
This outfit looks familiar
Oh, here it is!

·         At first Ray doesn’t want to use their equipment in the house, Ray never has that concern for other people.
·         Aunt Lois forgives them anyway.
·         I thought at first the Ghostbusters were hypocritical for being angry at the debunked medium for the mess since they leave messes all the time.  To be fair however the Ghostbusters do offer a legitimate service where Dr. Bassingame’s a fraud.

Great episode I am glad we finally got to meet some of the Ghostbusters' extended family from the first season I got the impression they didn’t have any.

GHOST PIRATES

Sea Fright
Original Air date: November 9, 1987[1]

Writers: Arthur Byron Cover and Lydia Marano

Director: Dale Schott

Main Cast:

  • Lorenzo Music as Peter Venkman
  • Frank Welker as Raymond Stantz
  • Maurice LaMarche as Egon Spengler
  • Arsenio Hall as Winston Zeddemore
  • Laura Summer as Janine Melnitz
  • Frank Welker as Slimer
(Rating 3 of 5)

Summary: The story begins with a scuba diver taking a chest with a image of a stag on it.  At the firehouse Ray mentions to the rest of the Ghostbusters that famed explorer Max Palopolis just opened up a new maritime exhibit at the local museum. While this was going on a ship in open water encountered a strange fog and a pirate ship called the Stag crewed by skeleton ghosts. Their captain goes by the name Jack Higgins.  The pirate ship attacked the vessel.
The Ghost of Captain Higgins!

The Ghostbuster are called down to the docks and when they get there they discover that the ship we saw at sea crashed into the dock.  The Ghostbusters go on board and Peter finds the crew tied up below decks, and a parrot fly through the wall.
The Stag

The Ghost ship shows up and defeats a Coast Guard cutter.  The Ghostbusters back on shore see the whole thing and Ray recognizes Captain Higgins, who was a famed pirate in life.  The Ghostbusters then blast The Stag.  This has no effect and the pirate ghosts attack the Ghostbusters and defeat them.
Ghost Pirates

The ship then goes into the air and “sails” into in New York City.  The ghost pirates loot and plunder the city looking for their treasure.  The Ghostbusters guessing what Captain Higgins wants decide to set a trap, Max doesn’t cooperate but it doesn’t matter because The Stag shows up anyway and Captain Higgins humiliates Max and delights in finding his treasure.  The Ghostbusters attack and this time their weapons work and the capture all the ghosts.  Slimer pitches in battling the parrot. They reward him by buying the little green ghost some ice cream.
Captain Higgins given a new hat by his crew that they stole from a Houston man.

My Take: This episode was okay.  The pirates looked cool and were fun villains, I love the fact that they needed to get the treasure that was “stolen” from them all while stealing things from others.
Now for my stray observations:

·         The scene where they are going through the town was rather funny.  They thought the Houston guy was rich because he dressed weird.  I liked the part when the ghosts mistook mannequins for real women.  The ghosts remember they like girls but didn’t remember why.  Also they are no longer equipped to handle that situation.
·         Also what do ghosts need with treasure?  What are they going to do with it, buy gum?
·         Slimer vs. the bird
·         I lowered some points on the review because of the inconstancy with the Ghostbusters battling the ghosts.   At first their weapons don’t work and then they do with no explanation given. They didn’t alter frequency they just suddenly worked when they didn’t before.
·         Also getting thrown in the ocean doesn’t affect the electronics in their packs?  Hmmm…that’s good I guess.  Maybe that  is why the packs worked later: they needed sea salt?

BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Play Them Ragtime Boos
Original Air date: November 26, 1987[1]

Writers: Michael Reaves and Steve Perry

Director: Dale Schott

Main Cast:

  • Lorenzo Music as Peter Venkman
  • Frank Welker as Raymond Stantz
  • Maurice LaMarche as Egon Spengler
  • Arsenio Hall as Winston Zeddemore
  • Laura Summer as Janine Melnitz
  • Frank Welker as Slimer
(Rating 3 of 5)

Summary: The Ghostbusters are driving to New Orleans to attend the International Para-Psychological Expo at Tulane University, which Peter would rather skip to go to Mardi Gras.  When they get there they discover that their hotel is in horrendous run down condition.  Peter looks at Ray’s brochure and finds that it was published in 1925, which puts it sixty-two years out of date at the time of the show. Peter is about to have a meltdown until he meets the hotel manager.  The manager is the beautiful Marie Cuttie, whose pretty looks allow Peter to forgive her for having such a crappy hotel.
Their hotel

That night as the Ghostbusters are sleeping Ray gets possessed and wonders out of the hotel; fortunately his friends see him and follow.   Outside a ghost with a trombone is playing “The Saints Come Marching In.”  While he is playing many people who from town who are just as possessed as Ray gather around and they all start dancing.  Peter thinks it looks like fun and joins in anyway. While this is happening everyone's clothes and the buildings in the town start to transform into 1940s style.  Marie shows up with ritual powder which she uses to make the ghosts vanish.
But when you have a pretty face who cares if you can't do your job. She wasn't really good at getting rid of the ghosts either.

Marie explains that she is a Voodoo priestess who has been fighting a ghost name Malachi.  Malachi was an old jazz musician whose ghost wants to restore the past.  He uses the power of music and magic to do this.  His actions can have serious consequences however, as Egon points out, if the time line continues to be disrupted time itself might unravel.
Because they always like to sleep together, being a Ghostbuster is one eternal childhood sleep over.

Normally this would not be a huge problem. Because the Ghostbusters are here and they can just catch him.  Except they left their equipment at home so they have to call Janine and have her express mail it for overnight delivery.   While the Ghostbusters wait time keeps coming apart they find themselves in the Civil War, then the go from a Civil War battle to being drooped in water because they’re in prehistory and there is no land in Louisiana in this era.
That moment you realize you left all your stuff at home.

It turns out there packs get sent to Hawai’i so they try to make one and it fails miserably.  So instead they decide to something else.  Egon decides to fight fire with fire or music with music, and alters some instruments to have anti-distribution vibrations.  When Winston points out that they don’t have any musically talent, Egon counters that the instruments would work as programmed they just have to hold them and push buttons.  Kind of like modern guitar hero.  The Ghostbusters battle it out with rock n’ roll to challenge the Jazz ghosts.  Despite their clothes changing from time period to time period the Ghostbusters prevail and Malachi defeated.  Peter tries to catch Mardi Gras missing out on a free trip to Hawai’i.
Yeah,, things are getting bad.

My Take: This episode was okay.  It was different in the sense that we saw the Ghostbusters take care of a problem in manner different from the norm.
Time altered Ray in battle mode.

Now for my stray observations:

·         The Ghostbusters should learn to wear their seat belts.
·         1925 broacher, really Ray?
·         Why does Marie suck so much when it comes to taking care of her hotel?  Is it because she is too busy fighting Malachi?  If so then bad excuse. The Ghostbusters fight ghosts all the time, live in an old firehouse, and they still find time to make sure their HQ doesn’t look like crap.
·         No gear, really? Normally they put packs on even if they’re just going for a walk.  You mean to tell me they drive Ecto-1 all the way from New York in order to attend a big conference on the study of the supernatural and they don’t bring their Ghostbusters stuff with them?  Ray once took his just to show off in his home town, yet they are going to meet like minds to exchange thoughts and they leave their stuff at home?
·         Why is it so hard for them to build a proton pack, don’t they do it all the time?
I thought you guys were good at building these things.

·         You want me to believe that Malachi in his entire life and over 40+ years as a ghost and never learned a second song?  I mean do you really want to play “The Saints…” forever?  He does.
"I am musical ghost, but I only know one song!"

·         I bet Peter will find a way to blame Slimer for the missed trip to Hawai’i.

An okay episode, but doesn’t get beyond that.

EVEN GHOSTS WANT TO BE ON TV

Station Identification
Original Air date: December 9, 1987[1]

Writer: Marc Scott Zicree

Director: Dale Schott

Main Cast:

  • Lorenzo Music as Peter Venkman
  • Frank Welker as Raymond Stantz
  • Maurice LaMarche as Egon Spengler
  • Arsenio Hall as Winston Zeddemore
  • Laura Summer as Janine Melnitz
  • Frank Welker as Slimer
(Rating 4 of 5)

Summary: The story begins with the Ghostbusters sitting around their firehouse bored out of their mind and afraid of going out of business not having had a single job in weeks.  Slimer eats Winston and Peter’s ping pong ball earning Peter’s rage.  For a distraction Janine brings in an old TV set of hers.  They turn it on and begin watching an old repeat.  Winston points out he didn’t know this particular show ever aired in color and Janine says it’s a black and white set.
Really? They live at the station and often are bored when business is slow an d this is their first TV?

Then the TV program comes to life and tries to take out the Ghostbusters.  The Ghostbusters defeat and trap the ghost.  They then pull the plug on the TV and realize it was set to channel 1, something that doesn’t exist, and this maybe happening all over.  An incoming call confirms this and the Ghostbusters drive around the city battling these ghosts.  At one point Peter tries to prevent a restaurant owner from turning on very large TV and a parody of He-Man, whose torso is still a TV, comes to life and attempts to destroy them.  Powerman, as he is called, tried to suck all of them into the TV.  He almost gets Peter, but Peter saved by Slimer who doesn't escape the TV trap.
Yeah, it's not supposed to do that.

Realizing that Slimer saved his life Peter feels guilty of the way he treats Slimer, so he vows that they will rescue him.  Egon figures out the reason they had been so not busy lately is all the ghosts were working together to create WBOO, their very own TV station that is about to go national.
If Rambo and Gumby had a baby.

They find the station and enter it.  Inside they battle Gumbo, a version of Rambo and Gumby, and some dead Star Trek parodies.  They find Slimer and then they follow the power connection and encounter Shriek Squeal, the main ghost behind it all.  Shriek Squeal is armored in TVs so the Ghostbusters aim for the power source and destroy it, before their broadcast can go national ending the threat.
Star Trek parody

My Take: This was a good episode it was fun trying to spot all the TV references.  I noticed it was all old TV shows being referenced not modern[2] ones, with exception to the He-man parody.   For example I didn’t see any GI Joe or Transformers references, it seems Free was just plucking stuff from his own childhood.
Ghosts playing Star Trek

Now for my stray observations:

·         Ghostbusters worried about going out of business again?  Don’t their licensing fees from their hit movie help their bank account at all?
·         Despite that the Ghostbusters actually live there nobody bought a television set?  Why don't they just watch on Janine's way too advanced for the 1980s computer?
·         Since I work for my local cable company my first thought when Janine pulled out that old set was “she is going to need a digital adaptor.” Then I remembered it’s the 1980s.
·         The ghosts are all working together really?
I am the leader of the ghosts and I look like a circus reject!
·         How unlucky was the poor ghost to end up in the firehouse?  Imagine you're one of the TV ghosts whose group is going to use the television as a way of invading the livings’ homes and you’re the unlucky sap who ends up in the Ghostbusters' laps.
·         I hope the Ghostbusters got paid for all the work they did today. Maybe they have a continuing contract with the city?
Finding Slimer after he was taken..
·         How long before Peter forgets that Slimer saved him?  He still hasn’t acknowledged he saved all of them from Killerwatt, helped against the Sandman, and Phantom Ghostbusters!

[2] By modern I mean 1980s.
