Summary: The
story begins with a scuba diver taking a chest with a image of a stag on it. At the firehouse Ray mentions to the rest of
the Ghostbusters that famed explorer Max Palopolis just opened up a new
maritime exhibit at the local museum. While this was going on a ship in open
water encountered a strange fog and a pirate ship called the Stag crewed by
skeleton ghosts. Their captain goes by the name Jack Higgins. The pirate ship attacked the vessel.
The Ghost of Captain Higgins! |
The
Ghostbuster are called down to the docks and when they get there they discover
that the ship we saw at sea crashed into the dock. The Ghostbusters go on board and Peter finds
the crew tied up below decks, and a parrot fly through the wall.
The Stag |
The
Ghost ship shows up and defeats a Coast Guard cutter. The Ghostbusters back on shore see the whole
thing and Ray recognizes Captain Higgins, who was a famed pirate in life.
The Ghostbusters then blast The Stag.
This has no effect and the pirate ghosts attack the Ghostbusters and
defeat them.
Ghost Pirates |
The
ship then goes into the air and “sails” into in New York City. The ghost pirates loot and plunder the city
looking for their treasure. The
Ghostbusters guessing what Captain Higgins wants decide to set a trap, Max doesn’t cooperate
but it doesn’t matter because The Stag shows up anyway and Captain Higgins
humiliates Max and delights in finding his treasure. The Ghostbusters attack and this time their
weapons work and the capture all the ghosts.
Slimer pitches in battling the parrot. They reward him by buying the
little green ghost some ice cream.
Captain Higgins given a new hat by his crew that they stole from a Houston man. |
My Take: This
episode was okay. The pirates looked
cool and were fun villains, I love the fact that they needed to get the
treasure that was “stolen” from them all while stealing things from others.
Now for my stray observations:
·
The scene where they are going through the town
was rather funny. They thought the
Houston guy was rich because he dressed weird.
I liked the part when the ghosts mistook mannequins for real women. The ghosts remember they like girls but
didn’t remember why. Also they are no
longer equipped to handle that situation.
·
Also what do ghosts need with treasure? What are they going to do with it, buy gum?
·
Slimer vs. the bird
·
I lowered some points on the review because of
the inconstancy with the Ghostbusters battling the ghosts. At first their weapons don’t work and then
they do with no explanation given. They didn’t alter frequency they just suddenly
worked when they didn’t before.
·
Also getting thrown in the ocean doesn’t affect
the electronics in their packs?
Hmmm…that’s good I guess. Maybe
that is why the packs worked later: they
needed sea salt?
