Summary: Cubby, a New York resident who lives next to a chicken restaurant, is upset having to deal with the smell of cooked chicken coming into his apartment.  This has caused him to develop an intense hate and phobia towards chickens.
To some the smell of chicken isn't awesome.  I call those dumb people.

At the famous New York Library the Ghostbusters are checking out books, Peter is getting some picture books while the others are doing more serious research.  Egon goes to see the librarian about the following titles of Spirit Summonings and Conjurations, Lochmore's Guide to the Lower Regions, and the latest volume of Who's Who and What's That.  The overly friendly librarian points to Cubby and says that he has already checked them out.  Egon approaches the man who is rumbling on about chickens and tries to warn him about what those books can actually do.
Egon wants to take out certain books, she wants to take out Egon.  She has to get in line.

Later Cubby summons the demon Morganan.  Morganan asks Cubby if he is ready to pay the price for his services and Cubby says he is.  Then to Morganan’s horror, Cubby says what he most desires is to rid the world of chickens.  Morganan tries to offer him better things like to make him the ruler of France.  Finally Morganan bargains to give Cubby the power to make anything disappear or reappear and Cubby accepts.
How to bring about a demon?

The next day Cubby uses his power and makes all the chickens in the world disappear.  He even makes things that just look like chickens such as large statue at the chicken restaurant that he hates vanish as well.
The demon doesn't understand Cubby, but no one does.

At the station, Egon is working on a math problem that Slimer is being surprisingly helpful when the report comes in that all the chicken in the world have vanished.  It takes Egon no time at all to guess what has happened.  They head down to the library to get Cubby’s address and the go to pay him a visit. When they get there Cubby doesn’t like their questions, so he decides to send them where the chickens went.
"I got rid of the chickens and I can get rid of you"

This sends the Ghostbusters to a world where they are plugging towards their deaths.  Fortunately for them they are saved at the last second by Morganan.  The demon tells them the reason he did this is he needs their help.  His status amongst his demon peers is falling faster than the Ghostbusters just were and he wants to send them back to stop Cubby so he can revoke their agreement.  The Ghostbusters agree and they are sent back to New York.
Making a deal!

They decide to build a bunch of robot chickens to fool Cubby and this works.  Cubby was so shocked to see that the Ghostbusters found their way back and was horrified to see the chickens.  He then commands all the chickens in the world to go back where they came from.  This has the reverse effect of what he intended because that just means the chickens have all returned.  Morganan stops in and informs Cubby of his violations and revokes his power.
Tricking Cubby!

Morganan thanked the Ghostbusters and let them know he was due to visit one of them later and the other Ghostbusters looked at Peter suspiciously.  Later in a mental hospital, the now instituted Cubby was waiting for his lunch but the nurse was Morganan and the offering was chicken.
"You broke the deal! Actually, you didn't but this episode is ending so HA!

My Take: This was both a very fun and silly episode.  This is one of those episodes whose plot I remember from watching as a kid.  I just want to point out that l like chicken very much and would be greatly upset if I were never able to have it again.  All the poor chicken farmers, Cubby is evil wicked man for whom I felt no sympathy.
What's for dinner, Cubby?

                Now for my stray observations:

·         What is it with Egon and secretaries? Is there something about his super nerdness that attacks any woman who holds a phone?
·         So what did Cubby have to give up anyway?  They didn’t specify but I am assuming it is his soul.
·        “You want France?” Did Morganan know Napoleon the pervious century?  Is he responsible for the French Revolution?
·         So Slimer is good at math? Really complex stuff even?  Egon didn’t even seem surprised and also didn’t say it was nonsense.  After Slimer wrote it Egon commented on it as if it were the work of a peer.  How smart is Slimer?
Egon and Slimer have a big secret!

·         I don’t get how Morganan was able to revoke the deal.  Where did Cubby himself violate it?  He had the power to make things appear or disappear no restrictions.  The only one who violated any agreement was  Morganan himself.  I don’t care Cubby is a dink.
·         Okay what sort of deal is Peter making with this guy?

Well that was an interesting episode I am glad all the chickens made it home.

  1. I just thought of something: in this episode, Cubby wants to make the chickens disappear, and "Doctor, Doctor" shows that chicken soup is Egon's favourite food!
